The Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade in Qena, in coordination with the regulatory agencies, seized a number of various supply violations during its expanded inspection campaigns to control the markets and ensure that support reaches those who deserve it, and to determine the extent of merchants’ compliance with the decisions and regulating laws, according to the directives of Major General Dr. Mustafa El-Beblawi, Governor of Qena, and under the supervision of Engineer Hassan Al-Qat, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply in Qena.
Controlling catering violations
For his part, Al-Qat explained that the regulatory efforts seized approximately 24 reports of food commodities that did not conform to standard specifications, and 36 reports were issued due to the absence of legal invoices, which is a clear violation of Resolution No. 113 of 1994 regulating the trading of commodities.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply in Qena continued that 19 reports were issued to commercial stores due to the failure to clearly announce prices to consumers, and 13 reports were issued for sale at more than the official price, and it also included the arrest of a bakery that produces fino bread, which tampered with the weights by 6 grams, a decrease in one loaf.
Al-Qat added that the Directorate intensified its monitoring campaigns on municipal bakeries, to ensure the quality of the fortified loaf, as 77 reports were issued for bakeries, ranging from violations of the management of rations of flour rations, the production of bread that was underweight and did not conform to the technical specifications, in addition to monitoring violations related to the absence of a sensitive scale or operating list and failure to adhere to the cleanliness of dough tools.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply in Qena confirmed that these campaigns will continue periodically and suddenly in various centers and villages of the governorate, stressing that there will be no tolerance for those manipulating citizens’ forces, as all deterrent legal measures will be taken against violators and referring them to the competent authorities.
