I fell Upper Egypt Development Authority A memorandum of understanding with the Dotra Group of Companies, one of the leading companies in developing agricultural systems and food industries, with the aim of enhancing joint cooperation in the field of agricultural industrialization and increasing the added value of local products in the governorates of Upper Egypt, within the framework of the directives of the political leadership to support comprehensive economic development in the region.

The memorandum of understanding was signed between Major General Engineer Amr Abdel Moneim Mostafa, Chairman of the Upper Egypt Development Authority, and Mr. Mostafa Abdel-Al, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dutra Group of Companies, in the presence of a number of representatives of government agencies, the private sector and foreign delegations.

The memorandum of understanding aims to study and implement a group of priority development projects in the governorates of Upper Egypt, most notably projects for drying onions and garlic, manufacturing and packaging dates, in addition to manufacturing food concentrates, especially tomato concentrates and pomegranate products, in a way that contributes to maximizing the benefit from agricultural abundance, reducing crop losses, raising the economic return for farmers, and opening new export horizons for Egyptian products.

Major General Engineer Amr Abdel Moneim confirmed that the signing of the memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of the Authority’s keenness to expand the partnership base with the serious private sector, in a way that serves the state’s plans to deepen agricultural industrialization, provide sustainable job opportunities, and support agricultural value chains, noting that the governorates of Upper Egypt possess promising competitive capabilities that qualify them to become an important center for the agricultural and food industries in Egypt.

For their part, representatives of the Dutra group of companies expressed their aspiration to cooperate with the authority in implementing strategic projects based on precise technical and economic studies that contribute to achieving integrated development and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products in local and global markets.

The memorandum of understanding stipulates the establishment of an institutional framework for joint cooperation, the exchange of experiences, the preparation of the necessary studies for the proposed projects, and partnership in implementation, in a way that ensures the sustainability of the results of development projects in the governorates of Upper Egypt and raises the productive efficiency of the agricultural sector.

The signing ceremony was attended by a number of the Authority’s leaders, including Dr. Mazen Shaqwir, Advisor to the Chairman of the Authority for Government and Institutional Communication, Ms. Al-Shahba Ali, General Director of Legal Affairs, Engineer Mahmoud Fouad, Director of the Engineering Designs and Measurements Department, and Professor Mohamed Hisham from the Executive Secretariat Department of the Authority’s President’s Office.
