Apple today released the release candidate version of the upcoming iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 updates to developers and public beta testers. This important step comes just one week after the company launched the fourth beta version, as this candidate version constitutes the final version that will reach all users around the world very soon if no additional software errors are discovered that require urgent fixes before the official launch.

Certified developers and testers can download and install these beta versions directly from the Settings app on iPhone or iPad by going to the General section and selecting Software Update. These new and awaited updates add a wide range of innovative features that enhance the daily use experience and raise the capabilities of these smart devices to unprecedented levels to meet the aspirations of brand fans.

Notable additions include an all-new Playlist Playground feature within the Apple Music app that allows users to generate custom songs for any idea, mood, emotion or activity using simple text commands. The update also introduces the Concerts Near You feature dedicated to discovering local artistic performances nearby, in addition to a completely new and attractive design for albums and playlists that relies on displaying artworks in full screen to provide an immersive visual experience.

Apple Podcasts gets native, built-in video streaming capabilities to make it easier to create, distribute, and monetize visual podcast content directly through the app. Visual loops integrate seamlessly with existing features like personalized recommendations and editorial suggestions, while the anticipated update brings a new set of fun emojis including a trombone, treasure chest, distorted face, hairy creature, scuffle cloud, orca and landslide.

The company enhances the security aspect by activating the Stolen Device Protection feature by default and in advance to protect user data from theft. The system introduces a completely new tool to display ambient music on the main screen, in addition to providing new and detailed metrics for average sleep time within the Health application to help users track their sleep habits more accurately, and those interested can explore more precise details about these advanced features through the available usage guides.
