Oura, the leader in the smart ring market, is preparing to launch the new generation of its wearable devices, called Oura Ring 5, in global markets. Extensive leaks revealed the expected design of the ring and its accompanying charging box, with six different versions being reviewed. This early step comes despite the fact that the previous version, Oura Ring 4, was launched in October of 2024 and is currently available at a price of 349 US dollars. While expectations indicate that the launch of the fifth generation will be postponed until the second half of 2027, the leaks quickly published multiple design images revealing the features of the upcoming device.

The leaked images indicate that Aura has made very minor modifications to the external design of the smart ring to maintain its familiar identity. The outer half of this new version comes with a more circular and curved design compared to the previous model, which makes the transition to the inner cover made of synthetic resin appear smoother and more harmonious. Experts explain that this smart modification and elimination of sharp edges will play a major role in protecting phone screens from accidental scratches that were caused by the ring’s friction with them during continuous daily use.

The innovative ring appears in the leaks in six different and distinctive finishes and colors to meet the tastes of all users and fashion lovers. The available options include black, silver, and gold with a shiny and attractive finish, in addition to providing a matte black version and a silver version with polished surfaces. Ora also offers a new option called Deep Rose to replace the usual rose gold color in previous versions. Ora continues to integrate advanced electrical and optical sensors within the internal structure of the ring to ensure accurate tracking of health indicators.

The upgrades to this new generation are not limited to changing the locations of the sensors, but also include a noticeable increase in the size of the optical sensors compared to the previous Oura Ring 4. These engineering modifications contribute to helping the heart rate and SpO2 sensors collect more accurate and reliable health data thanks to the reliance on additional red and green LEDs. Despite these clear improvements in health tracking capabilities, there is still uncertainty about the possibility of providing the device with entirely new sensors to measure additional, unprecedented vital indicators.

The recent leaks also show the charging accessories for the smart ring, completing the picture for followers and users. Two leaked images show the charging station intended for stationary home use, along with the portable and practical charging case that allows users to charge the ring quite easily while on the move and travel to ensure its continued operation without interruption. These images confirm that the general design of the accompanying accessories has not witnessed radical or noticeable changes to maintain the same practical and familiar character that the company successfully presented in its previous generations.
