The latest technical leaks indicate new and exciting details about the expected battery capacities in the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Wide Fold phones from Samsung. Although Samsung has maintained its conservative approach for many years regarding battery capacities, expectations confirm that its flagship foldable phone will come with the largest battery in the history of this series, and although Samsung continues to rely on traditional Li-Po cells instead of advanced silicon carbon technology, engineers succeeded in increasing the battery capacity by approximately 13% to provide better performance.

Samsung is preparing to officially launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 phone during next July, along with the expected Galaxy Z Flip 8 phone. While expectations indicate that the smaller version will be deprived of any battery-level upgrades this year, the larger foldable version will receive a noticeable upgrade, bringing its battery capacity to 5000 mAh, as the GalaxyClub website revealed that the device will include two batteries, the first of which will have a capacity of 2369 mAh and the second of which will have a capacity of 2485 mAh, bringing the total capacity to 4854 mAh, which will be commercially announced with a capacity of 5000 mAh.

This positive development comes after the previous Galaxy Z Fold 7 phone, which is currently available, retained a battery capacity of only 4400 mAh, which is the same capacity as the previous generation. Despite this noticeable jump and the new capacity reaching the 5000 mAh barrier, Samsung will still be clearly steps behind the fierce competition in the foldable phone market led by prominent Chinese brands such as Oppo, Motorola, and Huawei, and even behind its other flagship phone, the Galaxy Z TriFold.

The technical report also highlights the testing of another battery with a capacity of 2393 mAh, which experts believe is intended for the economical Galaxy Wide Fold phone. It is expected that this new phone, which represents the cheapest alternative in the family of foldable phones, will see the light coinciding with the launch of the new devices. If these leaks and the accurate numbers of the resident battery are correct, the total capacity of this economical phone may reach about 4900 mAh, thus being slightly smaller than the flagship version and clearly larger than the previous generation.

Regarding charging speeds, which has long been a controversial point among users, support for the foldable phone series has so far been limited to fast wired charging with a power of only 25 watts. But given that the modern Galaxy Z TriFold phone supports wired charging speeds of up to 45 watts, hopes and expectations are growing that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 phone will receive a similar and parallel upgrade in charging speeds to reduce waiting times and provide an integrated user experience worthy of a leading and expensive phone that competes strongly in global markets.
