Xiaomi has launched globally the new generation of Poco M series phones, specifically the Poco M8 Pro 5G and Poco M8 5G, as the “Pro” version comes as a direct successor to last year’s Poco M7 Pro 5G phone with fundamental upgrades in the design, processor and battery. This time, the company has abandoned the previous chipsets in favor of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, coupled with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 12 GB of internal storage space. 512 GB, and in terms of design, the phone has become slightly larger and heavier than its predecessor, with a thickness of 8.31 mm and a weight of 205.9 grams.
The phone features a 6.83-inch CrystalRes AMOLED screen with a display resolution of 2772 x 1280 pixels, and provides high brightness of up to 3,000 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, with support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ technologies. The screen enjoys advanced protection thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 layer that protects it from accidental drops and scratches, in addition to the phone receiving an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. There is a fingerprint sensor built under the screen.
In the photography department, the device includes a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50 MP main lens that supports optical stabilization (OIS) and an 8 MP ultra-wide lens, while the front camera comes with a 32 MP resolution. The battery is the most prominent strong point in this version, as it comes with a huge capacity of 6,500 mAh with support for 100-watt fast wired charging and 22.5-watt reverse charging.
The phone is available in silver, black and green colors, and includes additional features such as symmetrical stereo speakers, an IR sensor, NFC technology, and a package of artificial intelligence features such as Circle to Search. Prices start from $299 for the 8/256 GB version and reach $359 for the 12/512 GB version.
