Huawei today announced a new range of smartphones, in addition to the MatePad Edge 2-in-1. In addition to revealing its latest foldable phone, the company also presented the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max, and Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design.
According to pre-launch hints, Huawei has now started selling the FreeBuds Pro 5 as a direct competitor to the AirPods Pro 3.
Huawei says the FreeBuds Pro 5 offer exceptional sound quality when paired with Huawei phones or the new MatePad Edge 2-in-1.
The headphones support NearLink technology, which allows audio transmission at speeds of up to 4.6 Mbps. If your smartphone does not support NearLink, the headphones also offer alternative codecs including AAC, SBC, L2HC and LDAC.

Each headphone also contains two audio engines, a Kirin A3 processor produced by Huawei, in addition to microphones that provide three times better active noise cancellation (ANC) compared to previous versions of Huawei.
The FreeBuds Pro 5 also feature IP57 certification for dust and water resistance. However, despite some previous claims, the battery life is only estimated at 5 hours when ANC is activated.
The FreeBuds Pro 5 are available at a price of CNY 1,449 (~$205) in four color options. So far, Huawei has not announced plans to launch the headphones globally.
