Everyone makes live videos on different platforms for personal and professional use. Although live videos have seen an increase in usage, there are still many who are not aware of using them properly.

We shared tips on how to optimize your Instagram Live sessions, and in this article we’ll share tips on starting live broadcasts on Twitter.

How to broadcast live on Twitter

  1. Create an account on Periscope And log in.
  2. Open the broadcast preview.

    • On iOS: Click on the icon Broadcast At the bottom center of the screen.
    • On Android: Click on the icon Camera At the bottom left of the screen.

  3. Enter a title that describes what viewers will see or experience in your stream.
  4. Select the people you want to share the broadcast with.
  5. Select your location, chat, and sharing preferences using the icons above the button Start live streaming.

    • Click on the icon compass To activate location sharing.
    • Click on the icon Chat bubble To activate limited chat.

  6. iOS only: Click on the icon Microphone Top button Start live streaming If you want to stream using audio only. You can also turn the feature on or off while you’re in the middle of a stream. You will still be able to receive chat messages and hearts if you select this. Note: With a strong network connection, the quality of an audio-only stream will be at the same high level as a video stream, and creating one will generally require less bandwidth.
  7. Click on the button Start live streaming.
  8. To end the broadcast, click Stop broadcasting.

To start a live video on Twitter, open the tweet box and tap the camera icon, then select “Live” and then “Go Live.”

The live stream will go live and appear in your followers’ timelines.

When you want to end your live video, just press the stop button.

Add guests

Twitter allows you to add up to three people as guests on your live videos and you can do this by selecting the Faces button in the top right corner before going live.

You can then click on the faces button to add viewers in your live video.

Invitations will be sent to these viewers.

You can also request to join live videos by tapping the Faces button and selecting “Ask to Join.”

And if you want to leave the broadcast, simply tap the “X” located in the upper left corner of the screen.

The same process can be followed to remove a guest from your live stream.

Share your live broadcast

You can also share the live stream by clicking on the share icon. When you’re live, it will show as ‘Share Live’ but once it’s over, it will show as ‘Share from Beginning’.

Edit your live broadcast

Twitter also lets you edit live broadcasts on iOS and Android.

You can make changes to the title, thumbnail, and even set custom starting points.

You can edit your live stream three times and it will take up to 15 minutes for changes to appear.
