Google is expanding the Magic Cue feature, exclusive to the Pixel 10, to include all Android phones under the name Contextual Suggestions. This feature allows users to get “helpful suggestions from apps and services” based on their daily activities and locations. For example,
A music app might suggest a playlist when you go to the gym or suggest a sports match be on TV at a regular time.
Suggestions are based on encrypted data stored on the device, this data is not shared with apps or Google, and does not leave the phone unless the user chooses to. Data can also be deleted at any time, and is automatically deleted after 60 days.
AI learns from this data to make accurate predictions about what might be useful, while apps and services remain unable to access the data themselves, and only use predictions to make timely suggestions.
The Contextual Suggestions feature is currently available to a limited group of users within the latest beta version of the Google Play Services application, and it is expected to gradually expand to include all users, and can be accessed through: Settings > Google (or Google Services) > All Services > Other.
