Google Message
Google has published its new iMessage application for chat and the new messaging system for Android, and it is now available to all users in the United States. It is not known when the chat will be released to users in other markets.
iMessage for Android
The chat app has a set of features similar to those seen on Apple’s iMessage app, so Android users will now have iMessage on their phones soon. They’ll also see the ellipsis icon when someone on the other side of the chat is typing. Chat will also add the ability to send high-resolution photos and videos
In a tweet last week, Sanaz Ahari, Google’s director of product management, said people will need to update both the Messages app and carrier services to receive the new tools.
Note that the new chat application has been available to users in the United Kingdom, France, and Mexico since June of this year.
Similar to iMessage for the iPhone, Google’s new chat app gives the option to subscribe or cancel the service, and all users in the United States will be able to use the new chat features with any phone equipped with Rich Communications Services.
However, since Chat relies on RCS, it’s not quite the same as Apple’s iMessage, meaning RCS doesn’t provide end-to-end encryption.RCS.
