Egyptian tourism recorded an exceptional and unprecedented performance during the year 2025, as Egypt received about 19 million tourists, achieving a new record with a growth rate of 21% compared to 2024, in an achievement that reflects the growing strength of the Egyptian tourist destination on the international scene.
Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, confirmed that what Egyptian tourism has achieved during the year 2025 is a major achievement, and an affirmation of Egypt’s competitive ability, in light of the security and stability it enjoys, and the clear vision and integrated strategy that relies on highlighting the diversification of tourism patterns and products of the Egyptian destination, which are unparalleled in the world while improving the quality of tourism services provided.
He added that this growth exceeds the average global growth rate, which the United Nations Tourism Organization estimated at only about 5%, which reflects the confidence of tourists from different countries of the world in Egypt as a diverse and safe tourist destination capable of providing diverse and integrated tourism experiences.
The Minister also thanked and appreciated the political leadership for the support, and the Council of Ministers and the government for the integrated efforts and continuous coordination between the various state agencies, which contributed to creating a supportive climate for tourism growth.

He also congratulated the private tourism sector and all employees of the Ministry on this achievement.
During the year 2025, Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Marsa Alam airports topped the list of airports receiving the most tourists during the year 2025, which reflects the geographical diversity of Egyptian tourist destinations and their ability to attract different segments of tourists from multiple markets. It also confirms the success of the Egyptian state’s efforts to develop tourism infrastructure and airports, and improve the level of services provided.
Archaeological sites and museums nationwide witnessed a growth in the number of visits by foreign tourists, as all of them, except for the Museums of Civilization and the Grand Museum, received 18.6 million tourists, with a growth rate of 33.5% compared to 2024.
The year 2025 also witnessed a remarkable growth in tourist (charter) flights by 32%, while the city of New Alamein achieved an exceptional leap, recording a 450% growth in charter flight traffic, making it one of the most prominent new tourist destinations on the international tourism map.
The Minister pointed out that these unprecedented results achieved by New Alamein City and the North Coast reflect the success of the political leadership’s vision and the Ministry’s strategy to diversify tourist destinations, open new horizons for beach, recreational and cultural tourism and create new tourism products that depend on integrating a number of products into one integrated tourism experience.
During the year 2025, tourist flights were operated from 193 cities around the world to various Egyptian tourist destinations, in a clear indication of the expansion of the international aviation network and the increased demand for visiting Egypt.
The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities stressed that the next stage will witness building on these positive results and working to achieve sustainable tourism growth that will directly reflect on the national economy and enhance Egypt’s position as one of the most important tourist destinations globally.
