Al-Khatib also noted the importance of strengthening industrial, agricultural and commercial cooperation between the two countries, in addition to cooperation in the areas of developing ports and maritime transport and establishing direct shipping lines between the ports of East Port Said and Sokhna and the ports of Karachi and Gwadar.

For his part, Jam Kamal Khan, Minister of Commerce of the Republic of Pakistan, stressed his country’s keenness to strengthen the frameworks of joint economic cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt in various fields and at all levels, pointing out the importance of continuing joint coordination to expand the horizons of economic and trade partnerships between the two countries.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance investment cooperation in priority areas such as the mining and food sectors in Pakistan, and the electric car and energy sectors in Egypt, in line with the priorities of the two countries to advance and localize these sectors.

Mechanisms for trade and investment coordination between Egypt and Pakistan

The two sides also stressed the importance of strengthening trade and investment coordination mechanisms between Egypt and Pakistan in light of the agreements and blocs that bring them together, such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Group of Eight Developing Islamic Countries, while benefiting from the two countries’ positions in bringing Egyptian exports to Central Asia via Pakistan, and Pakistani exports to Africa and Europe via Egypt.

At the end of the meeting, Jam Kamal Khan, Pakistani Minister of Commerce, invited Engineer Hassan Al Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, to visit Pakistan to see the development witnessed by the investment environment in Pakistan, and to discuss opportunities to enhance economic cooperation in various sectors, especially priority sectors for the two countries.
