New leaks indicate that Apple is testing a 200-megapixel camera sensor for future iPhones, in a move that may represent a major shift in its imaging capabilities.
The leaker, Digital Chat Station, reported, citing sources from the supply chains, that the company is testing a 1/1.12-inch sensor for use in the main camera, and not in the telephoto lens. This sensor is expected to also appear in other upcoming phones such as the Oppo Find X9 Ultra.

Although 200-megapixel sensors are already widespread in Android phones, Apple still relies on 48-megapixel cameras in its current devices, such as the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
However, this leak does not necessarily mean that the next generation iPhone will get this camera, as the actual launch of the sensor is likely to take place during next year.
