It turns out that Apple acquired Canadian graphics database company Kuzu last year.

The acquisition, which was monitored by AppleInsider, was completed in October 2025 for an undisclosed sum. The company’s website was later closed and its Github repository archived, as is usual in Apple’s acquisitions.

Kuzu was “a compact graph database designed for query speed, scalability, and ease of use.” It introduced the Kuzu Explorer tool, a browser-based database that displays data points as linked nodes. Apple was forced to inform the European Union of the acquisition due to its importance, but there are not many other details about it.

Apple already owns FileMaker, a cross-platform relational database application, through its subsidiary. It is not yet clear what Apple plans to use the “Kuzu” technology for.
