The first reviews of Apple’s new Studio Display
And during Review published by The VergeJournalist John Higgins pointed out an important feature that has not yet reached the screen, which is support for full color calibration.
The monitor currently offers several color reference modes, including modes from Apple and Adobe, in addition to DICOM settings for medical imaging.
However, the review showed that the default screen calibration suffers slightly, with brightness appearing slightly higher in the darker shades of the greyscale, making shadows less deep and some dark colors brighter than desired.

On the other hand, Apple will allow, in a future software update, to perform a full screen calibration. Currently options are limited to fine adjustments including white point and brightness level, while the next update will add broader calibration tools covering white point, primary colors, brightness, and gamma curve.
Apple has not yet determined the release date for this update, although the screen will be officially available in the market starting March 11 at a price starting at $3,299.
