Apple is experiencing a major wave of changes within its leadership ranks. Weeks ago, one of the lead designers of the iPhone Air team left, and now a new report from Bloomberg reveals the departure of Alan Day, who has served as vice president of interface design since 2015.
Day is heading to Meta to lead a new design studio, while Apple assigns his position to Steve Lemme, who has participated in designing every interface the company has presented since 1999, according to what Tim Cook confirmed.
Apple also announces the departures of Katherine Adams, senior vice president and chief legal officer, and Lisa Jackson, vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives.

Jackson will retire at the end of January, while Adams will temporarily lead the government affairs department until her retirement in late 2026. Responsibilities for environment and social initiatives will move to Sibih Khan, Apple’s chief operating officer.
Jennifer Newstead assumes the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer on March 1, having previously served at Meta as Chief Legal Counsel.
The company also announced a few days ago the imminent retirement of John Gianandrea, who is responsible for artificial intelligence and machine learning strategy, and who continues to provide advice until spring 2026. Amar Subramania will assume the position of Vice President of the Artificial Intelligence Department.
Rumors indicate that the most prominent departure may be imminent, as Tim Cook is believed to be nearing the end of his term, while John Ternos, senior vice president of hardware engineering, is seen as the most prominent candidate to succeed him.
