Recent press leaks revealed Apple’s plans to develop a new smart sensor dedicated to smart home security management. The leaks indicated that John Ternos is leading the development of three new home products, including a home robot equipped with a rotating screen, a smart home center that supports Apple Intelligence technologies and the facial recognition feature, in addition to a small and innovative sensor for security management.
This new sensor has an internal code name of J450 within Apple. In their previous reports, the leakers referred to this innovative product as an advanced security surveillance camera, but in their latest report they chose to describe it as a small sensor, which ultimately strongly suggests that this compact device is a camera that supports the HomeKit system and a smart sensor in one integrated device to meet all needs.

Technical sources confirmed that this innovative device will rely entirely on battery power, which means that it will be completely wireless to facilitate its installation. This sensor was specifically designed to enhance home security and protection, as it includes facial recognition technology and advanced infrared sensors to identify the people inside the room with very high accuracy to ensure the highest levels of security and privacy for users.
The functions of this smart accessory are not limited to the security aspect only, but also extend to intelligent automation of daily tasks. Apple believes users will distribute these cameras throughout their homes to help automate tasks like automatically turning off lights when you leave the room or playing favorite music, similar to third-party HomeKit sensors that offer comprehensive functionality to measure motion and temperature and integrate harmoniously with smart lights and locks.
Apple plans to develop a complete and wide range of smart home cameras and advanced security products in the coming period. Expectations indicate that this upcoming lineup may include a doorbell equipped with a video camera and supports the leading Face ID technology, as these smart accessories will be sold as optional additions to the long-awaited smart home center, which experts expect to be officially launched in the markets during the month of next September.
