Garmin has launched a new software update targeting its latest mid-range smart watches to meet the needs of athletes. Garmin chose to provide a wide range of software bug fixes and training improvements for the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 watches instead of launching a huge major update, and this release comes more than a full month after providing the last stable update for these wearable devices.

Garmin continued to develop v16.xx versions in its beta program despite user expectations to begin testing a new major software revision. The company has now moved to the Public Beta Version 16.37, which has already reached all eligible smart watches. Users who did not receive the download notification can manually go to Menu, then Settings, choose System, followed by Software Update, and finally press Check for Updates to start the update process.

The new beta version carries more than half a dozen effective improvements, according to official data issued by Garmin. Despite the absence of completely new features in this update, it provides a noticeable improvement in the performance of the route planning tool, and addresses the problem of the possible and sudden crash of the system when using wireless headphones, which is an annoying technical problem that has negatively affected many other smart watches recently.

Through this update, the developers succeeded in solving another software problem that caused the entire system to crash when practicing intense HIIT sports activity. The list of fixes included addressing a technical glitch that led to only one alert for daily goals being displayed to users throughout the entire day, in addition to making comprehensive updates to the translation function in the system for better communication, and fixing a group of other minor programming errors to ensure stable performance.

The Forerunner 970 smart watch is currently available at a price of $714.99 for users looking for advanced sports tracking technologies. These continuous updates confirm the company’s commitment to improving the user experience and raising the efficiency of its current devices by addressing software vulnerabilities promptly, to give fitness enthusiasts and athletes reliable and smooth performance that enhances their ability to track their daily activity without any obstacles or sudden interruptions.
