New leaks revealed possible details about the upcoming PlayStation 6 gaming device from Sony, as the well-known leaker Moore’s Law Is Dead indicated during a live broadcast that the company may aim to run games at 4K resolution at a rate of 120 frames per second with ray tracing technology activated.

According to previous leaks published by the same leaker, the device may offer a noticeable jump in performance compared to the PlayStation 5, as it is expected to provide an increase in traditional graphic processing power ranging from 2.5 to 3 times.

As for ray tracing performance, it may witness a much greater jump, as it may improve by between 6 and 12 times compared to the current generation.

When compared with the PlayStation 5 Pro, expectations indicate that the performance of traditional graphic processing may improve by about double, while the improvement in ray tracing performance may range between 3 to 6 times.

This is due to the device’s reliance on a next-generation graphics processor based on the RDNA 5 architecture, along with a central processor based on the Zen 6 architecture.

However, this information should be taken with caution, as it is unlikely that the device will be able to run games at native 4K resolution with 120 fps and enable ray tracing at the same time.

Instead, Sony is expected to rely heavily on its PSSR AI upscaling technology to achieve this level of performance.

Regarding the launch date, the leaks also touched on rumors about the possibility of postponing the device, but the leaker believes that the timetable will likely not change, as Sony may target the launch of PlayStation 6 in the period between late 2027 and the beginning of 2028.
