Apple currently only sells eSIM-based iPhones in 12 markets, including the United States, Japan, Mexico and Saudi Arabia. A new rumor indicates that Europe may join this list with the launch of the iPhone 18 series.
A recent report states that Apple is preparing to adopt eSIM only in Europe in conjunction with the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max next fall. The company is expected to unveil the Pro versions at the usual time during September.

Moreover, the report suggests that the iPhone 18 Pro Max battery capacity will reach between 5100 and 5200 mAh, as a result of dispensing with the physical communication chip and relying entirely on the eSIM, which allows more internal space for components.
On the other hand, Apple is expected to postpone the launch of the standard version of the iPhone 18, along with the successor to the iPhone Air, until the beginning of 2027, as part of a plan to launch the series in two separate stages.
