Xiaomi is preparing to expand its Redmi Pad series of tablets with a new, economical version. The basic version of the Redmi Pad 2 was launched in June 2025 with an 11-inch screen, and the GSMA platform database recently revealed a new version of this tablet that features a smaller screen to meet different user preferences.

The approved certificates revealed three different model numbers for this new device, which are 2604ERP4DG, 2604ERP4DC, and 2604ERP4DI. The last letters in these numbers indicate that the device will be offered in customized versions for the global, Chinese, and Indian markets, respectively. Although the certificate did not reveal the full technical specifications, it confirmed that the device will come with a 9.7-inch screen.

The Xiaomi Time technical website explained that this expected tablet will be available in two versions, one of which supports cellular networks and the other is limited to supporting Wi-Fi networks only. The leaks indicate that the company may rename the version that supports Wi-Fi only to be launched under the name Poco SeaPad in some specific markets as part of its marketing strategy.

Considering the previous 11-inch version, it proves its worth as a powerful tablet thanks to its four-speaker sound system and its distinctive display. This version ran on a Helio G100 Ultra processor from MediaTek, which is built on a 6nm architecture. It was also equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera for taking photos and making video calls.

The larger version contained a huge battery with a capacity of 9,000 mAh and supports 18-watt wired charging, and was launched in European markets at a price of 199 euros. These expansionary steps in the economic devices category come very shortly after Xiaomi launched its leading iPad 8 series of tablets in global markets to enhance its competitive position.
