On March 22 of each year, the world celebrates World Water Day, which was approved by the United Nations in 1992 with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of fresh water and the necessity of preserving it, as it is the basis of life for every human being and living being. This year’s celebration comes amidst highlighting the water shortage crisis and the necessity of managing water resources sustainably to ensure access to clean and safe water for all.

Manial Palace highlights the marvels of history and the importance of water conservation

As part of World Water Day activities, the Manial Palace Museum, Manarat Al-Qusour, highlights unique artifacts that reflect Egypt’s rich history and its relationship with water.

Among the most prominent of these pieces is a silver tea set decorated with floral motifs, consisting of 31 pieces. It was written on the middle in French that it was a gift from the International Company of the Suez Canal to Muhammad Saeed Pasha, to remind visitors of the role of water and the Suez Canal as a vital global corridor, an extension of the Sesostris Canal established by King Senusret III, which formed a water artery and an important global point of contact in the history of Egypt.

The Manial Palace Museum confirms that these pieces are not just artistic heritage, but rather a way to highlight the importance of water and its vital role in human life and civilizations throughout the ages, calling on visitors to pay attention to water and preserve it from pollution and waste.
