Widespread controversy surrounding Veron Mosengo’s resignation from CAF
According to press reports, demands for Veron’s dismissal escalated by members of the CAF Executive Committee, as well as widespread criticism campaigns on social media, due to him remaining in his position despite exceeding the mandatory retirement age set at 63 years.
Veron Mosengo’s departure comes amid a state of controversy over thorny issues, most notably: the repercussions of the Senegal crisis, the overwhelming anger following the decision to strip Senegal of the African Cup of Nations title, and the resulting crisis of confidence in the current leadership headed by Motsepe.
