During the recent period, the educational arena witnessed serious incidents within a number of private and international schools, represented by serious violations and clear violations of the privacy of students and exposing them to danger, after accusations that some of them were subjected to attacks within the educational campus.
These incidents sparked widespread societal anger and sharp questions about oversight and accountability mechanisms, the limits of legal and administrative responsibility for school administrations, and ways to protect students and ensure a safe educational environment free of any violations.
Regarding this matter, Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education, explained the reasons for not resorting directly to withdrawing the licenses of violating private or international schools, even in serious cases, stressing that placing the school under financial and administrative supervision is a more severe punishment for the owner.
Abdul Latif said during press statements that this mechanism allows the state to fully manage the school, while excluding its owner from management, which achieves strict control and prevents the recurrence of violations, noting that withdrawing the license or closing the school may allow the owner to sell the building or exploit it commercially, which does not achieve the required deterrence.
The Minister of Education stressed that the Ministry will not tolerate any school proven to be involved in serious violations, stressing that no violating school will be left unpunished, while taking the necessary legal measures to ensure the protection of students and the maintenance of discipline within educational institutions.
The Minister of Education reveals a plan to deal with incidents of child abuse in schools
Abdul Latif revealed the details of the plan to deal with incidents of harassment of students inside schools, saying: I felt very disturbed by these incidents, and my grandson is 4 years old, and every incident I look at my grandson and I will deploy surveillance cameras in all government schools, similar to private and international schools.
Details of the confrontation plan were as follows:
Implementing strict controls in continuous coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Justice.
It is completely unacceptable for any sick person to approach children…and our children are above all else.
We must not tolerate the perpetrators of these crimes. The law and the judiciary will take their course.
Implementing 17 decisions in all private and international schools, daily committees and continuous follow-up.
Take the necessary measures against anyone who fails to perform his duty.
Continuous daily follow-up in government schools… and do not neglect the safety of children.
There is a camera structure in some schools… and a plan has been developed to complete the rest of the schools.
Putting schools under financial and administrative supervision.
New controls for those who obtain permits to open a school, requiring previous experience in the field of education.
Implementing an awareness campaign in coordination with several ministries and introducing some guidelines into the curricula.
