Dr. Nazir Ayyad, the Grand Mufti of the Republic, revealed the ruling on someone who falls asleep or forgets to pray.
What is the ruling on someone who falls asleep and misses prayer due to fatigue from work? The Mufti explains
Dr. Nazir Ayad said during his interview with the Ask the Mufti program that whoever falls asleep or forgets a prayer, he must perform the prayer as soon as he remembers it, citing the noble verse: “Establish the prayer in remembrance of Me.”
He stressed that whoever falls asleep due to fatigue from work and wakes up before sunset must make up the dawn, noon and afternoon prayers he missed as soon as he wakes up.
The Mufti added that sleeping throughout the day in Ramadan does not invalidate the fast, but it does deprive the fasting person of many of the rewards and educational purposes of fasting, such as patience and perseverance in congregational prayers and dhikr.
He explained that there are many degrees of fasting, the least of which is the fasting of the common people, which is limited to abstaining from food and drink only.
