Patrice Baumel, coach of the Tunisian team, Esperance, commented on the victory achieved by the team at the expense of its counterpart Al-Ahly In the African Champions League.

Esperance of Tunisia achieved victory over its counterpart, Al-Ahly, with an unanswered goal in the first leg of the semi-finals of the African Champions League.

Patrice Baumel said in television statements: We were waiting for this match. We scored a goal against Al-Ahly for the first time in years, and we knew Al-Ahmar’s ability and the quality of his players, but we played with a high spirit.

He added in his statements: We overcame the difficulties, despite the problems of the first half. I asked the players to press and pass to put pressure on Al-Ahly.

Bommel added: We had more than one opportunity in the first half, which we did not take advantage of, and there was hesitation in decisions.

He continued his speech: In the second half, we pressed and took possession of the ball, and we were better in transitions until the penalty kick came from which we scored the goal.

He continued in his statements: I take my hat off to my team players because we searched for victory today.

He concluded by saying: We won, but a lot of work awaits us in the second leg. We must finish the mission in Cairo, and we must be courageous, and a difficult match awaits us.

Al-Ahly’s match against its Tunisian counterpart, Esperance, in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the African Champions League, is scheduled to be held at nine o’clock in the evening next Saturday, the twenty-first of March, at the Cairo International Stadium.
