Royal Army: We apologize to Al-Ahly for what happened…and the arbitration errors behind these quarrels
Youssef El-Balawi said in statements to the El Clásico program on ON channel: I regret what happened during the match from some people affiliated with the Royal Army fans, and these quarrels are unfortunately due to the catastrophic mistakes that clubs are exposed to in African championships in general.
The general secretary of the Royal Moroccan Army Club added: The large teams that provide all the financial and logistical capabilities and recruit the best players, and in the end, are the victims of fatal arbitration errors that have a major impact on the result.
The general secretary of the Royal Moroccan Army Club concluded: The refereeing errors that the Royal Moroccan Army faced in past matches are behind what happened to the fans yesterday during the Al-Ahly match.
Earlier, Al-Ahly club officials, headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, considered submitting 3 complaints to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), after the events that took place in its match against the Royal Moroccan Army in the Champions League.
According to what Cairo 24 learned at the time, Al-Ahly was considering submitting three complaints to the African Union after what happened in its match against the Royal Army.
The source added that the first complaint will be against the referee of the team’s match against the backdrop of the gross refereeing errors witnessed in the match and the awarding of an incorrect penalty kick in favor of the Moroccan team.
The source continued in his statements that the second complaint was due to crowd unrest, and the attack to which Al-Ahly players were exposed during the match by the Royal Army fans after they threw bottles and sharp tools on the field.
The third complaint will be against the backdrop of an assault by a member of the Royal Moroccan Army from the reserve bench on Al-Ahly players without any intervention on the part of the match referee and his neglect of protecting the team’s players.
