The presidency of the local unit of the center and city of Qus announced that the Sheikh Amer slides will continue to be completely closed until next Tuesday, as part of the completion of work on developing the signaling systems on the Naga Hammadi-Luxor line, as part of a plan to modernize the railway system and raise safety rates.

The local unit of the center and city of Qus explained that the closure decision comes in coordination with the competent authorities, to carry out the necessary technical work to modernize the signaling systems, which contributes to enhancing safety and security factors on the railway line.
She indicated that during the closure period, the transit movement of citizens and vehicles will be diverted to alternative slides, as it was decided to use the two slides at Al-Kharaqa at Kilometer 642.475 on the sea side, and the two slides at Al-Shanhouriya station at Kilometer 647.432 on the tribal side, until the ongoing work is completed and the slides are reopened to traffic.
The locality of Qus appealed to citizens and vehicle drivers to adhere to the scheduled traffic diversions, and to follow guidelines and instructions to ensure the safety of everyone, stressing that the work is proceeding according to the specified timetable in preparation for the reopening of the slides as soon as possible.
