Trial of an engineer accused of threatening, insulting and defaming a company director
The decision was issued under the chairmanship of Counselor Abu Al-Majd Abdel Salam, and the membership of Counselors Hisham Mahmoud Amer and Sherif Samy.
The beginning of the incident goes back to the fact that, as a result of a work relationship between the accused and the victim, the victim entrusted the finishing work for a property owned by her to the accused as he is an engineer specialized in supervising such works, and after they agreed on the fees of the accused and the victim obtained a written clearance from him, he continued to ask for sums of money from her, threatening her through social media with abuse and insults for requesting sums of money, despite the fact that he had paid his fees for the value of the work he had performed. He exposed her private life and directed insulting words and threats at her.
The competent investigation authorities referred the accused to criminal trial, and charged him with threatening the victim in writing, as he sent her text and voice messages via the messaging application “WhatsApp” containing a threat to publish some of her personal matters, which would undermine her reputation and harm her, and commit crimes before her and her family. This threat was accompanied by a request for a sum of money in exchange for not publishing those matters or causing harm to her family, as shown in the investigations.
