targeting Ministry of Transportation The Egyptian Company is strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional center for transport, logistics and transit trade, by launching an ambitious strategic plan that includes developing the transport infrastructure and linking production to sea ports in an integrated and effective manner.
According to the plan, 32 dry ports and logistics areas will be established throughout the Republic, with the aim of facilitating the movement of goods and reducing transportation time between industrial, agricultural and mining production areas and sea ports.
The Ministry is also working on implementing 7 integrated logistics corridors to connect sea ports on the Red Sea with ports in the Mediterranean, which enhances Egypt’s role as a major hub for regional and international trade.
The initiatives also aim to support the local supply chain and logistics, reduce the cost of storage and transportation, and improve the speed of the flow of goods internally and externally. It will also contribute to attracting foreign investments and increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian ports at the regional level.
Rail and road network development project
Transport sector officials indicated that this plan is integrated with the project to develop the railway and road network, and link it to dry ports and seaports, to form an integrated transport system that combines land and sea transport, and facilitate the movement of trade and Egyptian products in global markets.
The plan also includes training programs for human cadres working in the transportation and logistics sector, and adopting the latest digital technology systems to facilitate customs clearance procedures and inventory management, in order to achieve the government’s goal of accelerating trade movement and reducing customs clearance time, in line with the directives of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to enhance the automation of logistical operations.
