Shawky Gharib, the former coach of the Egyptian national team, believes that captain Helmy Tolan relied on a balanced formation during the match against Kuwait in opening the national team’s championship campaign. Arab Cup.
The Egyptian national team tied with Kuwait, 1-1, in the match that brought them together yesterday, Tuesday, in the first round of the tournament.
Gharib said during his hosting of the program “Ya Evening Lights” with the journalist Medhat Shalaby on MBC Misr 2:
“The formation of the Egyptian national team in which the technical staff relied on balance, with playing on the sides in the presence of Yahya Zakaria and Akram Tawfiq.”
He added: “The midfield trio, Ghannam Mohamed, Amr El-Soulia, and Mohamed El-Nenny, has a very similar playing style.”
The former coach of the Olympic team continued: “I would have preferred to have Mohamed Magdy Afsha as a starter instead of one of the trio, to add playmaking and offensive depth.”
He concluded his statements by saying: “Islam Issa is a good player…and a project for an international player in the coming period.”
