This was in implementation of the decision of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, regarding the closure of stores nationwide at nine o’clock in the evening, with the exception of pharmacies, supermarkets, grocery stores, bakeries, and vegetable and fruit stores.

The Governor of Sohag stressed the heads of neighborhoods and local units of the necessity of field visits to public stores, various commercial activities, and cafeterias, and direct communication with their owners to inform them of the Prime Minister’s decision and the implementation date, with an emphasis on lifting occupancy and encroachments on the streets within the centers and neighborhoods, and reviewing public store licenses for all activities to ensure compliance with the law.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, had issued a decision regarding the legal mechanisms for closing public stores, commercial centers, and restaurants every day at nine o’clock in the evening to the public, including malls, restaurants, cafes, and bazaars, provided that the closing times extend to ten o’clock in the evening on Thursdays, Fridays, and official holidays, with home delivery services continuing 24 hours a day.

The decision includes restaurants, cafeterias, bazaars, shops selling tourist goods, and establishments subject to the Hotel and Tourist Establishments Law. It also extends to include clubs, sports facilities, and youth centers, with the same specified closing times applied.

The decision stipulated the exception of grocery stores, supermarkets, bakeries, bakeries, and pharmacies, in addition to tourist activities at ports, train stations, and hotel facilities, taking into account the nature of some night-time activities such as vegetable and poultry stores and wholesale markets.

The decision is scheduled to begin implementation starting today, Saturday, March 28, 2026, for a period of one month, within the framework of the state’s plan to regulate the working hours of public stores and achieve discipline on the Egyptian street.
