Today, Monday, the General Book Authority of the Ministry of Culture is organizing an intellectual symposium for His Eminence Dr. Nazir Muhammad Ayyad, the Grand Mufti of the Republic, entitled: “The Fatwa and its Role in Preserving Identity,” in the main hall of Plaza 1.

The symposium will be held between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m., where the Mufti of the Republic will address the role of the rational fatwa in protecting religious and national identity, and its importance in consolidating the value system and confronting extremist thought and uncontrolled speech, in light of the cultural and intellectual challenges witnessed by contemporary societies.
The symposium addresses the responsibility of religious institutions in presenting a conscious fatwa discourse that contributes to building the human being and preserving constants, keeping pace with changes without prejudice to principles, while emphasizing the importance of integration between religious and cultural institutions in enhancing societal awareness.
The symposium is moderated by Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Rahman, a member of the technical office of the Grand Mufti of the Republic, in the presence of a number of intellectuals, researchers, and those interested in religious and intellectual affairs, as part of the efforts of the Egyptian Fatwa House and the Ministry of Culture to spread enlightened thought and promote dialogue regarding current intellectual and societal issues.
