The Media Center of Sohag University issued a statement regarding the student, Soha Ahmed Ibrahim, Class of 2024-2025, first in the Department of Persian Language at the Faculty of Al-Alsun.

Sohag University clarifies the fact that it refused to appoint the first to the Faculty of Al-Alsun

The media center of Sohag University said in its statement: In light of what was circulated on social media regarding the non-appointment of the student Soha Ahmed Ibrahim, class of 2024-2025, the first in the Department of Persian Language at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, claiming that this is due to her father working as a muezzin, Sohag University confirms that these allegations are completely untrue, and the university president completely denied what was raised in this regard, during two television interventions yesterday evening.

He explained that the truth of the matter is as follows:

1- Teaching assistants are appointed according to a five-year plan approved by the relevant department council. The five-year plan for the Persian Language Department was drawn up and approved by the College Council on 11/14/2022, then ratified by the University Council on 11/27/2022, that is, three full years before the aforementioned student graduated.

2- The Persian Language Department currently includes 5 assistant teachers and teaching assistants from the teaching staff to teach the practical side to 62 students in a total of four teams, while the prescribed teaching quorum is one teaching assistant for every 50 students, which means that there is an actual increase in the number of teaching staff beyond the actual need of the department.

3- Teaching assistants are assigned in a transparent and objective manner, and in accordance with the approved five-year plan, in implementation of the provisions of the Universities Organization Law No. 49 of 1972 and its executive regulations, and all decisions issued by the Supreme Council of Universities, and the instructions of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration.

4- The university confirms that it has not appointed any graduate next to the student mentioned in the order, nor has it surpassed her in appointment, and this has not happened and will not happen with any of the university’s graduates.

5- There are no standards or conditions for appointing teaching assistants related to the father’s job or profession, and what was raised about the student not being appointed because of her father’s work as a muezzin is a completely baseless claim, knowing that muezzins have a high religious status.

6- The university confirms that there are legal and legitimate methods guaranteed by law to defend rights, and if the student believes that she is entitled to be appointed as a teaching assistant in the Persian Language Department and the department refuses to do so, she would have had to resort to the judiciary to decide on this matter.

Sohag University calls on all media outlets and social media users to ensure accuracy and objectivity, and to refer to the official statements issued by the university before circulating or publishing any information, in compliance with the provisions of the law and respect for state institutions.
