On the authority of Abdullah bin Omar, may God be pleased with him, he said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “The fighter in the cause of God, the pilgrim and the Umrah pilgrim, are God’s delegation: He called them and they responded to him, and they asked of him and he gave them.” Therefore, the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, taught his companions the supplication to strengthen their hearts before fighting, and to prepare to enter the battle, where there are calls to ask for victory from God Almighty, as the Prophet did in the Battle of Badr and Uhud and Al-Ahzab, which is one of the great battles. - Oh God, you are my trust in every distress and you are my hope in every hardship, and you are my confidence and support in every matter that befalls me. How many times of distress make the heart weak, in which resourcefulness becomes less and one fails in it, and in which the enemy gloats over it and grows weary in it. The things I sent down to you and I complained to you, desiring it from anyone but you, so you relieved him, revealed it from me, and sufficed me with it, and you are my protector of every blessing, the companion of every need, and the end of every desire, so much praise to you and to you. Manna is abundant.
- O the one who cries out to those who are crying out, and O who responds to the call of the distressed, remove from me my grief, my delusion, and my anguish, for you know my condition and the condition of my companions, so protect me from the terror of my enemy, for no one else is sufficient for him.
- O God, all praise is due to You. O God, there is no one to seize what You have spread, nor to extend what You have taken, nor to guide whom You have led astray, nor to mislead whom You have guided, nor A Provider for what You have withheld, and no hinderer for what You have given, nor a bringer for what You have fared, nor a distance from what You have brought near. O God, bestow upon us your blessings and mercy. And by your grace and provision, O God, I ask you for the eternal bliss that does not change or fade away.
- Oh God, I ask you for bliss on the day of family and security on the day of fear. Oh God, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You have given us and the evil of what You have withheld from us. Oh God, make faith beloved to us and beautify it in our hearts, and make disbelief hateful to us. And immorality and disobedience, and make us among the rightly guided.
- Oh God, let us die as Muslims and give us life as Muslims, and join us with the righteous, without disgrace or temptation. O God, kill the infidels who deny Your messengers and they turn away from your path, and inflict upon them your wrath and your torment. Oh God, kill the infidels who were given the Book, the God of truth..
A prayer for war and fear
And as for A prayer of love and fear When the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, feared a people, he would say: “O God, we place you in their throats and we seek refuge in you from their evils.” He used to recommend frequently saying, “Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs. There is no power or strength except in God, the Most High, the Great,” which is what encourages adherence to it in times of war, with frequent asking for forgiveness, and repeating the words of God Almighty: “There is no detector besides God,” and the noble verse, “Whenever they kindle a fire for war.” God extinguished it.”
- O God, bless Muhammad, his wives, and his descendants, as You blessed the family of Abraham, and bless Muhammad, his wives, and his descendants, as You blessed the family of Abraham. You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.
- Oh God, the Revealer of the Book, quick in reckoning, defeat the parties, Oh God, defeat them and shake them.
- Oh God, grant us the victory that You promised. Oh God, this Quraysh came with its horses and its feet, uniting with you and with your Messenger.
- Oh God, to You I complain of the weakness of my strength, my lack of resourcefulness, and my humiliation towards people, O Most Merciful of the Merciful.
- You are the Lord of the oppressed and you are my Lord.. To whom do you entrust me, to an enemy who frowns upon me, or to someone far away whose command is my responsibility? If you are not angry with me, I do not care, but your well-being is broader for me.
- I seek refuge in the light of your countenance, by which the darknesses have shone and the affairs of this world and the hereafter have been set right, lest your anger befall me or your anger befall me. You are my chastisement until you are satisfied, and there is no power or strength except with you.
- Oh God, I ask You for Your covenant and your promise. Oh God, if You wish, you may not be worshipped. Oh God, they are barefoot, so carry them, naked, feed them, hungry, so satisfy them, and needy, so enrich them with your grace.
- Oh God, we seek refuge in You from the torment of affliction, the grief of misery, bad judgment, and the gloating of enemies.
- Oh God, you are my support, and you are my supporter, by you I rely, by you I have roots, and by you I fight.
The Prophet’s supplication during the Battle of Badr
On the authority of Sammak al-Hanafi, may God be pleased with him, he said: I heard Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him, saying: Omar Ibn al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, told me: On the day of Badr, the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, looked at the polytheists, who were one thousand, and his companions were three hundred and nineteen men. The Prophet of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, faced the Qiblah and then extended his hands and began to chant to his Lord:
“O God, fulfill for me what you promised me, O God, fulfill what you promised me, O God, if this group of people of Islam perish, they will not be worshiped on earth.” He continued to chant to his Lord, extending his hands facing the Qiblah, until his robe fell from his shoulders. Then Abu Bakr came to him, took his robe, and threw it on his shoulders, then held it behind him and said: O Prophet of God, stop calling upon your Lord, for He will fulfill for you what He promised you. So God Almighty revealed: {When you sought help from your Lord, and He responded to you. Indeed, I will assist you with a thousand of the angels in succession} (Al-Anfal: 9), so God provided him with angels) narrated by Muslim.
The Prophet’s supplication on the Day of Parties
We conclude with the Prophet’s war supplication, with prophetic words that the Noble Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, repeated on the Day of the Parties. It has been proven in the Two Sahihs on the authority of Abdullah bin Abi Awfa, may God be pleased with him, that he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, supplicated on the Day of Parties against the polytheists, and said: O God, the Revealer of the Book, quick in reckoning, O God, defeat the Parties, O God, defeat them and shake them.
In Al-Musnad on the authority of Abu Saeed Al-Khudri, may God be pleased with him, he said: We said on the day of the ditch: O Messenger of God, is there anything we should say? The hearts reached the throats. He said: Yes, O God, cover our nakedness and secure our beauty. He said: Then God Almighty struck the faces of our enemies with the wind, so God Almighty defeated them with the wind.
