A US government charter flight is transporting Americans to the United States from the Middle East, and additional flights to locations throughout the region are being arranged, the US State Department said.

The State Department revealed in its statement that since February 28, when US and Israeli forces launched the initial strikes on Iran, more than 17,500 Americans have returned safely to the United States from the Middle East, including about 8,500 on Tuesday alone, according to Reuters.
The US State Department explained that many American citizens have left the Middle East for other countries in Europe and Asia since the beginning of the conflict.
On Monday, the US State Department urged Americans in 14 countries in the Middle East to leave the region immediately using available commercial transportation.
