The Minister of Culture’s defense revealed, during a live broadcast on Cairo 24, the scenes of the trial session of lawyer Ali Ayoub, accusing him of insulting the minister on social media sites, stressing that the defense team demanded the maximum penalty for the accused, in addition to civil compensation of one million pounds.

The Minister of Culture’s defense explained that what the accused did did not harm Dr. Jihan Zaki, Minister of Culture alone, but rather represented an insult to Egyptian women in general, noting that the incident caused psychological and family harm to his client.
He added that the accused admitted to the Public Prosecution that he committed the incident, and the evidence of the technical services proved that he published offensive phrases and information on social media sites.
The defense indicated that it requested to join the Public Prosecution regarding the charges, restrictions and descriptions it assigned to the accused in the case pending before the court.
Alaa Abed, the lawyer and legal advisor to the Minister of Culture, stated in a media statement today that he had submitted a report to the investigating authorities against Ali Ayoub, due to the publication of statements, statements and posts on the latter’s page on the social networking site Facebook, which included false and unfounded accusations against Dr. Jihan Zaki, for the purpose of defamation and violating the sanctity of private life, in addition to allegations, defamation, insults and defamation against the Minister, which caused her severe moral damage.

Alaa Abed added that the prosecution’s investigations with the aforementioned led to his being charged and referred to the Economic Court as required by law, explaining that it also became clear that what he published came within the framework of a planned campaign in which others participated, aimed at distorting, defaming, defaming and inciting public opinion against the new minister since she took office.
Counselor Alaa Abed continued that it was also found that there was a correspondence between much of what Mr. Ali Ayoub published on his page, on the one hand, and what had been published last year by a website called “The Third Corner” (which turned out to be broadcasting from outside the country) against Dr. Jihan Zaki, including serious abuse, including unfounded accusations of corruption, violating the sanctity of private life, insults, slander, and defamation. He explained that the law stipulates that whoever republishes these abuses, in whole or in part, in any form, will be subject to the penalties of articles The Penal Code, as well as articles of the Law on Combating Information Technology Crimes.
Abed said that he would attend the court session to claim civil rights and join the prosecution in its claim against the accused.
Counselor Alaa Abed pointed out that in order to reveal the truth to public opinion, God pledged to make every effort to reveal the truth, and the lawsuit is now in the hands of Egypt’s just judiciary, and we are completely certain of the integrity of the Egyptian judiciary, which is the bastion of justice and a haven of safety and justice for all Egyptians.
