The Sustainable Development Goals are a global vision for a better future
Saturday 22/November/2025 – 12:47 AM
In 2000, the United Nations met with the leaders of 189 countries to define a set of Millennium Development Goals, with the aim of eradicating poverty and hunger, improving education and health, empowering women, and ensuring environmental sustainability by 2015. These goals served as an initial roadmap for confronting major global challenges, and represented an international commitment to improving human lives, especially in developing countries.
Despite significant achievements, some goals were not fully achieved, and the MDGs were mainly focused on developing countries and did not comprehensively cover all aspects of sustainable development.
