J.D. Vance, US Vice President, criticized the Supreme Court’s decision to cancel the comprehensive tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, describing it as “the court’s overstepping of the law.”
“Today, the Supreme Court decided that Congress – despite giving the President the authority to ‘regulate imports’ – was not serious about it,” Vance wrote in a post on the “X” website, today, Friday.
He added: “This is a violation of the law by the court, plain and simple, and will have no effect other than making it more difficult for the president to protect American industries and enhance the resilience of supply chains.”
Trump had stated – during a press conference held earlier today, Friday – that the United States could “make more money” through other measures, while announcing the imposition of 10% global tariffs.
Vance also praised other measures available to the president, writing: “President Trump has broad tariff powers, and he will use them to defend American workers and support this administration’s trade priorities.”
