I confirmed Cairo University In light of what was observed of a fire breaking out inside the Reception and Emergency Hospital in Kasr Al-Aini as a result of an electrical short that led to the rise of smoke, the fire was limited and restricted to the electrical room of the central air conditioning unit, and did not extend to any of the medical departments or patient rooms, as the losses were limited to some damage inside the room only, without any injuries occurring among patients, medical staff, or workers.

Cairo University explained, in a statement, that the Civil Protection Forces immediately dealt with the fire, and were able to control and extinguish it completely and in record time, while securing the building and ensuring that there were no additional sources of danger, while evacuating the entire hospital in a precautionary and orderly manner, for fear of the effect of the fumes resulting from the fire. Patients were transferred to safe places within the various Kasr Al-Aini hospitals, while medical care continued to be provided to them without interruption.
Immediately, Dr. Muhammad Sami Abdel-Sadiq, President of the University, moved to the hospital headquarters to follow up on the situation in the field, where he reassured the safety of the patients and the medical and nursing staff, stressing that everyone was fine, and that the situation had been dealt with with high efficiency without any loss of life.
Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, Dr. Hossam Salah, Dean of Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hospitals, Dr. Hossam Hosni, Executive Director of Cairo University Hospitals, and a number of leaders of the Cairo Security Directorate also moved to the hospital headquarters.
The President of Cairo University stressed the need to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the fire site to determine the extent of the damage, form an urgent technical committee to accurately determine the causes of the fire and hold those responsible accountable, quickly complete insurance work and rehabilitate any damaged parts, and review safety and civil protection systems.
For his part, Dr. Hossam Salah, Dean of the Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, explained that the medical teams moved immediately in accordance with the approved emergency plans, and the evacuation process was carried out smoothly and without any repercussions, while medical services continued to be provided to patients in alternative locations within the university hospitals, stressing that the limited technical damage is being identified in preparation for urgent repair, with a comprehensive review of all safety systems to ensure the highest levels of safety.
