A private source close to… Imam AshourThe reason for the Al-Ahly player’s absence from traveling to Tanzania to play against Tanzania’s Young Africans in the African Champions League for the current season.
The Tanzanian team, Young Africans, will host its counterpart, Al-Ahly, in the match that brings them together in the fourth round of the group stage of the 2025/2026 CAF Champions League.
According to what a source close to Imam Ashour said in exclusive statements to Cairo 24, Imam Ashour and his entire family are suffering from the new mutant, and the entire family is suffering, even his young children, since the last Wadi Degla match in the league.
The source explained that Imam Ashour had previously informed Al-Ahly of his illness, and therefore he was absent from traveling with the Red Team delegation to Tanzania on Thursday morning.
On the other hand, Imam Ashour was not present at the airport on Thursday morning, to travel with the Al-Ahly delegation to Tanzania, which left Cairo at exactly nine o’clock in the morning.
A private source confirmed earlier that the administrative staff of the Red Club contacted the player at the airport, but his phone was switched off, so he could not be reached and the team delegation left without him.

Al-Ahly’s match against its Tanzanian counterpart, Young Africans, is scheduled to take place at three o’clock in the afternoon next Saturday, January 31.
