Abbas intends to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and ambassadors from several Arab countries on January 22, and the two sides are expected to discuss “the latest developments in the Middle East,” according to what the Russian news agency TASS reported.

In the same context, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Wednesday that the scheduled meeting between Abbas and Putin will take place on Thursday, January 22.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen arrived in the Russian capital, Moscow, yesterday, Wednesday, on a two-day working visit, according to what was published by the Palestinian Wafa News Agency.

The two presidents will discuss the latest political developments and the situation in the Palestinian territories, alleviating the suffering of our people, reconstruction, preventing displacement and annexation, stopping settlement expansion and settler terrorism, releasing detained Palestinian funds, and stopping measures to undermine the institutions of the Palestinian National Authority.

During their meeting, the two presidents will discuss ways to develop bilateral relations and the bonds of historical friendship between the two leaderships and peoples, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
