Today, Saturday, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari begins a five-day official visit to Iraq, at the invitation of Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid.

Radio Pakistan stated that the visit reflects the depth of the fraternal relations between Pakistan and Iraq, which are based on solid religious and cultural ties and mutual respect between the two countries.

Reviewing bilateral relations and discussing ways to enhance cooperation

During the visit, the Pakistani President is scheduled to hold a series of high-level meetings with Iraqi leaders, during which bilateral relations will be reviewed and ways to enhance cooperation will be discussed in areas of common interest, including trade, investment, energy, reconstruction, manpower, technology, and education, in addition to people-to-people exchanges.

The discussions will also address regional and international issues of common interest, in addition to enhancing coordination and cooperation in international forums.

It is expected that the visit will contribute to strengthening friendly relations between the two countries, opening new horizons for partnership, and supporting popular ties, especially in the fields of religious tourism and economic cooperation.
