Dr. Abdulaziz Qansoua, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, met with Eric Chevalier, the French Ambassador to Cairo, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Dr. Mounir Fakhry, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the French University in Egypt, and Dr. Mohamed Rushdi, President of the University, to follow up on the developments of the new campus project, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Capital.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister stressed the strength of Egyptian-French relations in various fields, especially in the fields of higher education, scientific research, innovation and technology.

Dr. Abdulaziz Qanswa explained that the French National University project enjoys full support from the Egyptian state, and aims to be a distinguished academic and research edifice, and an advanced model for smart new generation universities, in line with the state’s vision of developing the higher education system in accordance with the latest international standards.

The Minister pointed out the Ministry’s keenness to implement the project according to the highest levels of quality and efficiency, which reflects the strength of bilateral relations between Egypt and France, pointing out that the project receives the attention and support of the political leadership in both countries, and is considered a successful model of international academic cooperation.

Dr. Abdulaziz Qanswa added the importance of cooperation between Egyptian universities and their French counterparts in the academic and research fields, as well as joint cooperation in the Technology Park to be a platform for transforming scientific research outputs and creative ideas of researchers and students into industrial and economic applications, by supporting emerging companies, transferring and localizing technology, and strengthening partnership with the industrial community.

For his part, Mr. Eric Chevalier expressed his country’s appreciation for the ongoing Egyptian efforts in developing the higher education and scientific research system, stressing France’s commitment to strengthening the partnership with Egypt, especially through the French University, which represents a platform for exchanging knowledge and transferring expertise, and a gateway to transferring the French educational experience to the African continent.

The French ambassador pointed out the French side’s keenness to quickly complete the new campus according to the best technical specifications, and to provide the necessary support for the success of the project, stressing the university’s focus on modern specializations and interdisciplinary programs that meet the requirements of the regional and international labor market.

During the meeting, the executive position of the ongoing construction work on the new university campus was reviewed, and a detailed presentation was given regarding the completion rates and implementation rates, which are proceeding according to the specified timetables, with an emphasis on adherence to quality standards in all stages of implementation.

The two sides also discussed ways to support the project to enhance the university’s position as a leading academic and research institution, relying on the latest digital and technological systems, and providing a modern educational environment that supports innovation and scientific research.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation to advance work on the project, thus strengthening Egypt’s position as a leading regional center in the fields of higher education and scientific research, and embodying the depth of Egyptian-French relations.

The meeting was attended by the Ministry, Dr. Amr Allam, Assistant Minister for Institutional Development and Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Hani Madkour, Assistant Minister for National Projects, and Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister and Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector.

The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Egyptians abroad, Ms. Angie Mostafa, responsible for the French file at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Counselor Yousra Obada Sarhan, Director of Northern and Western European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
