The Health Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives held a meeting headed by Dr. Sherif Pasha, and in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar. Minister of Health And the population, to consider and discuss a number of vital briefing requests submitted by parliamentarians, which directly affect the rights of medical personnel and the problems facing citizens in the health system.
Briefing requests regarding closed unit crises
The committee discussed Representative Irene Saeed’s request not to amend the regulations of the Care Authority to include graduates of applied medical sciences in health staff allowances and to treat them financially as their peers instead of treating them as administrators, in addition to Representative Mahmoud Al-Shami’s request not to include the specialized group of health sciences technology specialists in the system.
The committee reviewed Representative Karim Badr Helmy’s request regarding the time frame for implementing the health insurance system in Minya Governorate, and Representative Raif Tamraz’s request regarding the delay in completing the implementation of the system and the non-completion of the first phase since its launch in 2018.
The committee discussed Representative Adel Abdo Al-Lami’s request regarding the suffering of chronic disease patients from the complexity and length of treatment approval procedures, and Representative Hamada Soliman’s request regarding the difficulty of Egyptian quality accreditation procedures for health facilities.
The committee also discussed Representative Jihan Shaheen’s request regarding the disruption of the health unit in Al-Nasr Village in Ismailia and its out of service despite its renewal, and Representative Yara Effat’s request regarding the financial burdens resulting from the requirement to pay subscriptions retroactively in South Sinai Governorate.
The meeting witnessed the presence of Dr. Ihab Abu Aish, Vice President of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Authority, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, Chairman of the Health Care Authority, and Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the Health Accreditation and Control Authority.
