In his first appearance after returning again to commentary, Algerian commentator Hafid Draghi was keen to shed light on the history of African football, during his commentary on the Ghana national team’s match against the German national team.
The Egyptian national team is in the historical lead
Draghi confirmed that the leadership of the African continent is still preserved in the name of the Egyptian national team, which sits on the throne of the African Cup of Nations with 7 titles, the highest number in the history of the competition.
He pointed out that this achievement reflects the strength and history of Egyptian football over the decades, as the “Pharaohs” succeeded in imposing their dominance in different periods.
Cameroon and Ghana in pursuit of the summit
Speaking about the competitors, Draghi explained that the Cameroon national team comes in second place with 5 championships, making it one of the most prominent football powers in Africa. While the Ghana national team occupies third place with 4 titles, confirming the long history of the “Black Stars” in the tournament.
Equal number of titles between several teams
Draghi added that there are three teams with the same number of titles, with two titles each, namely the Algeria team, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Senegal team, which reflects the close level and great competition within the African continent.
