Dr. Mustafa presided MadboulyPrime Minister, and Aziz Akhannouch, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco, discussed the work of the first session of the joint Egyptian-Moroccan coordination and follow-up committee, where they discussed a number of issues and topics of common interest in light of the two countries’ desire to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields.

At the beginning of the committee meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his happiness at receiving Aziz Akhannouch, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco, and his accompanying delegation, in the new capital, conveying the greetings of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, King of the Kingdom of Morocco, and His Excellency’s wishes to His Majesty the King for continued success and progress for Morocco, our second country.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly also valued the close historical relations at the level of the two peoples and the political leadership of the two countries, stressing that the bilateral relations are based on unity of destiny, support of the bonds of friendship, and mutual trust between them, pointing out that today’s meeting embodies a common political will to advance bilateral relations to broader horizons, and reflects the keenness of the leaderships of the two countries to deepen aspects of joint economic and development cooperation.

The Prime Minister also pointed out that diplomatic relations between Egypt and Morocco began in 1957, stressing that during this period the political relations between the two countries witnessed a great deal of understanding and continuous coordination in the files of joint national, regional and international action, represented by employing international relations to support and secure internal stability and development in the two countries, as well as openness to the outside world to benefit from different experiences, and commitment to a balanced foreign policy within the framework of the independence of national decision-making, as well as supporting the principle of mutual respect between countries and adherence to the principles of international law, as well as Combating terrorism and working to resolve various crises in the Middle East region.

Dr. Mustafa Madbouly praised the positive position of the Kingdom of Morocco in supporting the choices of the Egyptian people in the revolution of June 30, 2013, and subsequently supported Egypt’s efforts in democratic transformation, combating terrorism and extremism, and achieving economic development, noting that the (Egyptian-Moroccan) Cooperation and Friendship Association was established in 2017, with the aim of enhancing efforts to raise the level of bilateral relations and encouraging the executive authorities in the two countries to advance areas of joint cooperation, including economic and commercial exchange, bilateral cultural relations, and all Topics of common interest.

The Prime Minister added: “There is no doubt that the extended popular ties and common interests enhance the opportunities for building a strategic partnership between Egypt and Morocco, imposed by regional and international transformations, and the need to coordinate bilateral cooperation, and with the partners of the two countries, to restore stability to the region, advance their economic relations, and maximize the benefit from their distinguished position and economic advantages within the framework of integration.”

During his speech, Aziz Akhannouch, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco, expressed his happiness at his presence today at the head of a high-level delegation in Cairo, within the framework of the first session of the Joint Coordination Committee. In order to give greater momentum to bilateral cooperation and relations between our two brotherly countries.

The Moroccan Prime Minister said: I cannot fail to express to you, in my name and on behalf of the members of the Moroccan delegation, my sincere thanks and gratitude for the genuine generosity and good reception we have received in our second country, Egypt, which reflects the depth and rootedness of the historical fraternal relations existing between us, pointing out that the convening of the work of this coordination and follow-up committee expresses the ambition of the leaders of the two countries, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and his brother, His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to give momentum. Greater relations between the two countries and raising them to the level of a comprehensive and exemplary strategic partnership, based on effective solidarity, comprehensive economic integration, and political coordination on regional and international issues.

In the same context, Aziz Akhannouch stressed that our meeting today is not just a passing protocol meeting dictated by diplomatic norms, but rather a political declaration and a new charter that establishes our strategic partnership with specifications that guarantee effective and strong integration in various fields between the Kingdom of Morocco and sisterly Egypt. In an effort to strengthen their position as two pivotal regional poles in the region, the strength of our bilateral relations also depends on the clarity of our positions regarding the strategic issues of our two countries.
