Dr. Magdy Abdel Ghaffar, Professor of the Fundamentals of Religion at Al-Azhar University, confirmed that the Holy Qur’an is full of rational and logical arguments that call people to believe in God Almighty, and clearly show the path of truth and falsehood through profound Quranic dialogues that carry meanings of guidance and warning.

The torment of the grave and the afterlife… What awaits the arrogant and sinners?

Abdul Ghaffar explained during the “Qur’anic Lights” program, that the Almighty’s saying: “You call me to disbelieve in God and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, and I call you to the Mighty, the Forgiving.” It reflects a clear, logical dialogue between the people of truth and the people of falsehood, as it calls on the believer to worship God alone, while others call him to polytheism, stressing that this Qur’anic discourse reveals the difference between the call to monotheism and the call to misguidance.

He pointed out that the verses confirm an important fact, which is that whoever is called other than God has no invitation in this world or in the hereafter, and that the final fate rests with God Almighty, citing the Almighty’s saying: “No offense. Whatever you call Me to does not have a call in this world or in the Hereafter.” And that our return is to God, and that the transgressors are the inmates of the Fire,” explaining that these verses remind man of the reality of the return and the inevitable fate.

He added that the Almighty’s saying: “You will remember what I say to you, and I entrust my matter to God. Indeed, God sees His servants” reflects complete trust in God Almighty, as the believer leaves his affairs to God, which results in salvation from the plots of the oppressors. Citing what is stated in the following verse: “May God protect him from the evils of what they plotted.”

He pointed out that the Holy Qur’an also referred to the torment of Pharaoh’s family, as God Almighty said: “The Fire to which they are exposed morning and evening. And on the day the Hour arrives, admit Pharaoh’s family to the most severe punishment,” stressing that this verse is considered one of the evidence that scholars use as evidence for the punishment of Pharaoh’s family. The existence of the torment of the grave, as the exposure to the Fire will occur before the Hour of Judgment.
