The Spanish Minister of Transport said that a passenger train collided with a crane arm that swung on its track in the southeast SpainThis is the fourth train accident the country has witnessed in less than a week, according to Reuters.
The authorities added that six people were slightly injured after an arm collided with the windows of a passing train near the coastal city of Cartagena in the Murcia region.
The accident, which did not cause the train to derail but briefly disrupted traffic on the line, came four days after a high-speed train collided in the southern Andalusia region, killing at least 43 people.
Train accidents continue in Spain
Last Tuesday, a passenger train derailed after a barrier wall fell on the railway due to heavy rain near the city of Barcelona, killing the driver and seriously wounding four passengers.
The main train drivers’ union announced a nationwide strike over safety standards afterwards, and after a second, less serious crash in the northeastern Catalonia region on the same day.
