Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, held a session of discussions with Ayman Al-Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as part of the fourth leg of his tour to a number of Arab countries to coordinate and consult on ways to deal with the grave challenges facing the region.

During the meeting, which came in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and King Abdullah II, the two ministers stressed the depth and strength of the established historical fraternal relations between Egypt and Jordan, and praised the growing development witnessed by relations in various fields and the importance of building on the existing coordination mechanisms between the two countries in a way that serves common interests and reflects positively on the two brotherly countries.
The two ministers discussed the repercussions of the dangerous escalation taking place in the region, ways to reduce the escalation, restore calm, protect the region from the danger of expanding the conflict, and resort to diplomatic paths to enhance security and stability in the region, as well as activating coordination mechanisms and joint Arab action to confront the regional crises and challenges that are plaguing the region.
The two ministers renewed their condemnation of the Iranian attacks on Jordan and the sister Arab Gulf states, and rejected these attacks, which are considered an unjustified escalation and a flagrant violation of international law and the sovereignty of states.
The two ministers also stressed Egypt and Jordan’s full solidarity with the sisterly Arab countries, and support any steps taken by the brothers to confront Iranian attacks and protect their citizens, security, stability and sovereignty.
Minister Abdel-Ati also reiterated Egypt’s solidarity and full support with Jordan in the face of Iranian attacks on its lands, and Al-Safadi, for his part, appreciated Egypt’s standing by the Kingdom and its full solidarity with it.
The two ministers also stressed that focusing on the war in the region and its repercussions should not lead to ignoring the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, stressing the necessity of implementing US President Donald Trump’s plan in all its provisions, and stopping the illegal Israeli measures in the West Bank that undermine all chances of achieving a just peace.
The two ministers condemned Israel’s continued restriction of freedom of worship and the continued closure of the doors of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque to worshipers, as a blatant violation of international law, the existing legal and historical situation, and its obligations as an occupying power, and they warned of the danger of this continuing.
Regarding the situation in Lebanon, the two ministers affirmed their support for the Lebanese government in its efforts to empower its national institutions and confine arms to the state. The two ministers condemned the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and stressed the need to stop the aggression.
The two ministers agreed to continue working and cooperating to strengthen the deep-rooted, historical fraternal relations between Egypt and Jordan, and to build on existing coordination mechanisms between the two countries in a way that serves common interests and reflects positively on the two brotherly countries, and to coordinate on issues of common interest and developments in the region.
